Homemade Party Decorations!

For a change in pace we are going to look at the lighter, funner side of event planning…homemade party decorations.

Here’s a few quick ideas to get you started:

Decorate one feature wall (or all walls) This can be done relatively easy with a quick visit to find some wrapping paper (christmas or birthday wrapping paper that is)…or fabric. This can look really cheesy if time is not taken to color coordinate the room so first sit down and try to detail the mood/colors/image that you would like the room to represent. Cleanly designed wrapping paper is great for taping on the wall and can create a great mosaic that draws people into the room. Next step is to add the finishing touches on the wall and this can be done by cutting strips of fabric and making large bows that can be placed strategically on your wall design. Balloons are another great feature to any wall depending on the type of event.

Ballooons have many purposes and as mentioned above can be used for decoration walls or ceilings. They can also be great for entrances and possible tables. the trick… get out a soft big felt marker and draw custom designs on the balloons!

Homemade banners With the help of computer graphics and printers it’s never been easier to create a large banner and print it off on custom colored paper. If your printer only prints small A4 pages then get out the tape/glue and fit them together to make it as large as needed.

Table decorations is where personal taste comes in and this is a fantastic place to show your artistic flare. Surprisingly wrapping paper can make great custom table cloth. Napkin rings with personal custom drawings and messages. Unique printed name cards, and even party hats. Table centerpieces are vital to any site down dinner event. Take into consideration the atmosphere, people attending, etc and make something unique and fun. Pick some flowers, make some candles… the options are endless!

Streamers & Confetti Yes this is getting a little on the crazy side of things but can be purchased or made very easily. Paper shredders are your friend

What else can you think of? …we’ll be adding onto this list in the near future with more custom homemade party decorations.
